I’m at Reading Romances today for the Destiny’s Mark Book tour with a character interview of the Guardians Sagari and Saladin. Stop by for a chance to read and win prizes.
Also I’m adding in some beginning of the year admin items starting with a reflection on 2012 and what’s planned for 2013.
YEAR IN REVIEW
There are no resolutions in my house. We set a big goal or two for the next year and just head that way. However, for my career I can’t take quite so cavalier an approach.
Usually I review my year’s goals in December and start to work my tentative list of then next year then. This last year was a bit of a jumble due to several bouts of flu (yes, go figure to get sick twice!). I’m going to itemize here to keep myself honest.
2012 GOALS
Write and release Dragon Rider’s Gift
Completed
Design a map for the Dragon Rider’ Gift
Completed
Series outline of final two books in the Dragon Rider Trilogy, major plot points
Completed. Dragon Rider’s Soul also has the plot points completed and 5K words written.
Write and release Destiny’s Mark, book 3 in the Guardians series
Completed
Deliver paperback copies for the first two Guardian books
Completed
Participate in blog tours for the books released this year
Completed
Write and release Honor’s Quest, book 4 in the Guardians series
Here’s where I hit a snag. One third completed on this book
Write and release Hallowed Vengeance, book 2 in the Thaddeus Kane series
I kept vacillating whether to write this or the forth book in the Guardian series. As a result, all my plot points are worked out for this book. The research needs a bit more work. But I decided to finish Honor’s Quest first. So there is only 9K of this book done. It heads into 2013 to be finished.
Rough outline for a new urban fantasy series
This is actually started. I’m very excited about this series, which I’ll give more details on later. But I must bring my other series farther along before I indulge in starting this one!
Overall, good success in delivery. I tend to overestimate my goals, which is healthy. No one gets anywhere by underestimating themselves. More to accomplish this next year, but I’ve done it before and know that I can do it again. That’s a big benefit.
2013 TARGET
Write and release Honor’s Quest (100K)
Write and release Dragon Rider’s Soul (65K)
Write and release Hallowed Vengeance (95K)
Write and release Thaddeus Kane book 4 (title TBD 95K)
Consider options for short stories to write in these series (5-6K)
Deliver paperback releases of Destiny’s Mark and Honor’s Quest
Deliver paperback releases of The Mark of Kane and Hallowed Vengeance
Detailed outline book 5 of Guardian series, Covenant’s Promise
Detailed outline book 5 of Thaddeus Kane series
Detailed outline book 3 of Dragon Rider Trilogy
Blog posting of Research in Fiction class
Take several classes in networking and media promotion
Offer promo hosting on my blog for other authors via book tours
Hmm, well that should qualify as an aggressive schedule! And by the way, I do have a five- and ten-year plan. The ten-year is a bit fluffy, but so far I’m keeping pace with the five year plan, entering year three.
I’ll also be update the RESEARCH THE BOOK series and starting with the first post this weekend!

Thank you for having me! I’m glad your readers enjoy the character interviews. It gives me a chance to get back with the characters for a brief bit and add in things I don’t get a chance to in the book. Hopefully it’s more fun than just hearing me spout about writing.
