Savage Angel

I’m welcoming today author Stacy Gail to tell us a little bit about her Earth Angel Series and book 2 in the series, SAVAGE ANGEL.
The Earth Angels from the Beginning
First I’d like to thank KH for letting me pop into Fantasy Powered By Love to talk about the 2nd book in The Earth Angels series, SAVAGE ANGEL. Thank you, KH! Now, let’s get to it…
Did you know the inspiration for The Earth Angels came from biblical theology? Which is kind of hilarious, considering I got kicked out of Sunday school (but then, so did my dad, so I proudly look at it as keeping tradition alive). The Nephilim are human-angel hybrids wiped out in the Great Flood, because they weren’t part of the plan. But since Goliath was supposed to be descended from the Nephilim, it seems obvious a few escaped their extinction event.
So, that spawned the question—what if Goliath and other descendants of the original Nephilim had been given a chance to live on, and procreate?
Fast-forward to the 21st-century. When I first sat down to outline modern-day Nephilim, I tried to envision what it would be like to be mostly human, with just a little angelic DNA tossed into the mix. I decided to display various possibilities in familiar guises—the superhero, the soldier, the wounded warrior stripped of all power, and the lover. NOBODY’S ANGEL was the superhero novella set in San Francisco (and there are ACTUAL superheroes walking SF’s streets as I type this, which is why I chose to set the story there). My latest release, SAVAGE ANGEL, spotlights the soldier.
Sara Savitch is a descendant of the Seraphim, who are basically the Secret Service of the heavens, created to guard the throne of God. Sara is hard-wired to protect at all costs, so being a bodyguard is what she was born to do. The only problem—outside the realm of combat or training, she’s hopeless in social situations, and when it comes to dealing with the man she’s hopelessly attracted to, Army doctor Gideon Mandeville, she’s overcome with a rampaging case of awkward (during the writing of SAVAGE ANGEL, I broke out in hives—I must have eaten something with strawberries in it—and I blamed it on Sara and her uncomfortable, tongue-tied awkwardness
).
That’s a problem for Sara, because she’s been hired by Gideon’s father to protect him while a serial killer closes in. This brings Sara and Gideon into close contact, where it’s discovered that Gideon’s got issues of his own. BIG issues. It’s going to take a soldier who never gives up and never leaves anyone behind to not only catch a killer, but also save Gideon from himself.
SPOILER ALERT (kind of): At the end of SAVAGE ANGEL, I left something, shall we say, unfinished. It’s demonic in nature, and it was glimpsed in NOBODY’S ANGEL as well. By the end of SAVAGE ANGEL, it’s crystal-clear that something is hunting the Nephilim—something that is revealed in the next book, WOUNDED ANGEL, released in May of this year by Carina Press. The 4th and final book, DANGEROUS ANGEL, is in final revisions, so the date for publication is nowhere near set. But it’s finished, so no one’s going to have to wait too long to find out what ultimate terror is waiting around the corner.

BLURB:
Book two in The Earth Angels
Feel nothing. Sara Savitch’s personal mantra has been hard to live by ever since her torrid one-night stand with army doctor Gideon Mandeville. Descended from the Seraphim, angels known as heaven’s soldiers, Sara may be an expert fighter, but she’s an amateur when it comes to relationships.
Physically unharmed, but still battle-scarred, Gideon has returned to Dallas in the hopes of regaining his faith in humanity—and in himself. Instead he’s walked into a nightmare. His father is on a serial killer’s hit list, and has hired a personal bodyguard—the very woman who has haunted Gideon’s dreams for a year.
As Sara works to build an impenetrable fortress around her client, she yearns to tear down the one around Gideon’s heart. With his bitter rejection of warriors, will he ever be able to accept her true nature? Sara must find a way to trust Gideon with her secret as the killer closes in…

Excerpt:
“Let’s make this quick,” she announced without preamble, heading over to the desk and gesturing an invitation toward the chairs on the opposite side of it. “I have a meeting waiting for me, along with about a fifty other things that need to get done before noon. And in future, I’d appreciate it if you would call and make an appointment the next time you want a face-to-face.”
“An appointment? For me?” Refusing to even look at the chairs she’d indicated, Gideon kept his distance and stayed by the windows, his expression so remote he looked as unapproachable as the moon. “Do you insist all your lovers do that, or is it just me?”
She hoped her swift intake of breath was something only she heard. “You’ve made it apparent we don’t have that kind of relationship and after yesterday, I’m forced to agree with you. You’re not my lover, or boyfriend, or even acquaintance. We’re strangers, and I have no problem keeping it that way.”
“Except for the small fact that strangers don’t usually have mind-blowing sex up against the garage wall, do they?”
Her fingers curled into her palms, and she wondered if her face looked as neon-red as it felt. “And here I was, thinking you’d forgotten about that.”
“Something that hot is hard to forget.”

AUTHOR Bio and Links:
A competitive figure skater from the age of eight, Stacy Gail began writing stories in between events to pass the time. By the age of fourteen, she told her parents she was either going to be a figure skating coach who was also a published romance writer, or a romance writer who was also a skating pro. Now with a day job of playing on the ice with her students, and writing everything from steampunk to cyberpunk, contemporary to paranormal at night, both dreams have come true.

That’s a bit of a tease. Now I’m dying to know what the “ultimate terror” is.
